A setup in Belgrade
The kinetic, multi-part installation features six wooden strips, found and adapted in the inventory of the exhibition space. They are connected to each other and the entrance. A further strip is connected to a branch through which it can be moved individually.
Through the row of windows in the front, you can peek into the art space from outside. Its entrance door is very solid, made of iron and a window as well, with bars.
When you open the door and enter, a shrill squeak can be heard. You step into the main room and immediately become part of the intervention: Behind yourself, the iron door closes automatically with an audible bang that echoes into the room. Just as the door is shut, two vertically hanging wooden slats drop down and announce your visit. Due to the contact with the floor, they are now half in the air, tilt slightly, begin to sway and writhe.
At first, it remains unclear why and by whom or what the movements were triggered. Other ledges are visible, or at least appeared briefly. They invite you to step closer and observe the kinetic play. How the space changes as a result, when the movements occur and how other visitors react to them. It is possible that the strips are constantly in motion, mingling with the colorful hustle and bustle, with the other works in the group exhibition. Perhaps the visit takes place at a peripheral time when there are hardly any other people present and the strips are resting.

Setup in Belgrad
Die mehrgliedrige Installation besteht aus sechs Holzleisten – unlackiert, vorgefunden im Inventar des u10 Ausstellungsraums – die mit der Eingangstüre verbunden sind. Eine weitere Leiste ist mit einem Ast verknüpft, durch diesen sie sich von Hand bewegen lässt.
Durch die Fensterreihe lässt sich der vordere Bereich der Galerie von aussen erspähen. Dessen Eingangstüre ist massiv, aus Eisen und ebenfalls mit Fenster, jedoch vergittert.
Beim Öffnen erklingt ein schrilles Quitschen. Sogleich steht man im Hauptraum – mittendrin. Dahinter schliesst sich die Eisentüre automatisch wieder, mit einem gut hörbaren Knall welcher in den Raum hinein hallt.
Just als sich die Türe schliesst, treten zwei vertikal hängende Holzleisten auf die Stelle und kündigen die Besucher*innen an. Durch die Berührung mit dem Boden liegen diese nun so halb in der Luft, kippen leicht, beginnen zu schaukeln und sich zu winden.
Erst bleibt es unklar, warum und durch was oder wen diese Bewegung ausgelöst wurde. Es sind noch weitere Leisten sichtbar, oder traten zumindest kurz in Erscheinung. Sie laden dazu ein, näher zu treten, und das kinetische Spiel zu beobachten. Wie sich dadurch der Raum verändert, wann die Bewegungen auftreten und wie andere Besucher*innen darauf reagieren. Möglicherweise sind die Leisten dauernd in Bewegung, vermischen sich mit dem bunten Treiben, mit den anderen Werken der Gruppenausstellung. Möglicherweise findet der Besuch eher zu einer Randzeit statt, wo kaum andere Menschen anwesend sind, und die Leisten ruhen sich aus.
